Download Youtube into mpg files.

Intro
This guide will show you how to download videos from online sharing sites like YouTube, Dailymotion, Google Video, iFilm, and many more; and convert them into mpg or avi. Plus, we use all free software.

FYI- Dailymotion is a great source for TV shows. Just search the name and see if it is listed.

Download FLV file
First we need to download the flash video file from your video sharing site. Simply open the page in your browser that contains the video and copy the URL (highlight then Ctrl+C).

Now go to Video Downloader and paste the URL in to the box (Ctrl+V).

Click DOWNLOAD. Now, once it has loaded, click DOWNLOAD LINK.

Now, save the video like normal onto your desktop. This make take a while to load depending upon size. If your file is not a FLV file, rename 'get_video' to 'anything.flv'.

Convert FLV file to MPG or AVI

Now, you need to convert the FLV file to a file we can use (mpg or avi). To do this, download and install a free program called Riva FLV Encoder.

In the Input box, click Browse and select the .flv file we made. You can just make the .flv ending to a .mpg or .avi ending (as shown below).

If you are encoding for a cell phone, change Movie Size to 240x180.

The program will gray out for a moment as it is encoding, and will come back once it is done. Now, check out your Desktop (or wherever your output directory was) and you will see a .mpg or .avi file! Now you converted a flash movie to a mpg or avi!

Enjoy!
